Riley Nelson on Jake Retzlaff
Yesterday Criddle (960ESPN) had John Beck on the program. Beck, you could tell, didn't want to come out and say anything REALLY negative about his client, but he wasn't giving Jake a pass on the 3 turnovers.

What has been very interesting to me has been Criddle. Prior to the SMU game, he was fully in JR's court and was believing totally in the junior QB. I've hardly ever seen any full-time local media cover guy turn about so abruptly. He's not fully saying we need to ride the guy out on a rail, but there's no doubt, he like others, have "drawn a line in the sand". He shall not pass! Wow. He has a point. We're 6 games into JR and if he hasn't gotten a handle on the TO's, will he ever?

Now today it was Riley Nelson who wasn't calling for a direct change, but likewise was noting there is a line and JR has to find a way to not be so dangerous as to turn the ball over foolishly 3 times in a key game. He doesn't find a way to overcome that issue, and he likewise wants to move on.

Criddle is surprising me. I don't usually see him change colors that quickly. He's apparently seeing something that disturbs him now and turn it over 1 more time in the next few games stupidly, like he did on at least 2 of the TO's, if not all 3, and he'll be at the front of the rail carrying JR to the bench. I can tell it's hard for him because he does see that JR does have a good skill set and is driven, but both Beck and Riley really laid it out that he can't be so brazen that he throws the game into peril like he did last Friday night.

This will be interesting.
