Default rules of believing bad information:
1. If it could harm BYU, it's probably true, regardless of the source.
2. If it could harm Utah, it probably isn't true. But it might be. Depending on the source. I find it unlikely that this guy has sources (or a tree of sources) that would reach him before it started to leak closer to home. But I may be wrong.
