I was thinking there will be other possibilities like renting a car or upber/lyft/taxi.

Most likely I would join a car pool that would have cars/vans/trucks and you just order what kind of ride you need.

If I owned a car, I'd probably join a pool too and rent my car out to the pool when I wouldn't need it.

I just figure when self-driving cars become the norm, you just won't need one at your house all the time.
