Women's Volleyball Taking a Different Tack Early This Season
Even though BYU lost arguably 5 starters after last season, it is apparent that Coach Heather Olmstead is making some early strategic developmental decisions. BYU has played a freshman-heavy, newcomer-heavy line-up while mostly resting proven upperclassmen. Experienced players Kate Prior and Mia Lee have been mostly absent. Elyse Stowell has played more of a backup role.

I thought Olmstead would have played Prior and Lee more against #19 Georgia Tech, but it is clear that Coach Olmstead is thinking "big picture" and understands what she is doing. These preseason out-of-conference games mean less in the long run. The freshmen and newcomers are talented and learning to play well together.

I look for good things for the Lady Cougars this season!
