That means BYU doesn’t get the typical level of “dream school” applications.
Compared to the Ivy League, Stanford, etc., BYU typically gets a much more focused group of applicants that have already self-selected due to religious requirements and the likelihood of actually being accepted. I remember hearing a few years ago that Stanford had an 8% acceptance rate (at that time), which would infer that they are one of those “dream schools” that many aspire to, but few actually attain. BYU doesn’t begin to come close to that scenario.
