But Fouss has one thing he is clearly better at than Keita, his footwork and touch around the rim. That was needed in Pope’s system, but like others have said, who knows if KY wants to run a ton of post ups in his system. By the looks of what he did at the Suns and Sixers, probably not a lot which doesn’t help Fouss. He does foul 2 fouls less per 40.
Keita is a better rebounder, way better defender/rim protector, way better rim runner, way better roller, and better screener. His skillset on both ends of the floor fits exactly the role of the prototypical NBA 5 that KY has been working with his whole career.
Now this doesn’t mean Fouss isn’t going to play this season, but he has hit his ceiling of what he is in College Basketball: A skilled, under the basket, undersized 5 with limited impact defensively. A lot of his minutes will probably be determined on how Keita’s foul trouble goes game to game, and if he learned to still be aggressive but smart this off-season.
