I don't recall the techie wearing any particular protection but maybe that's because I close my eyes not wanting to watch the IV insertion. I felt a very very slight cold feeling as the tracer was injected. Fortunately I had no dizziness or bowel problems.
I have constant bad taste in my mouth from the chemo so tracer didn't seem to make that any worse.
Waiting for the results is never fun.
Sorry you had such a bad experience.
However, I do have horror stories from the ICU with the incision being left open so they could suction out the infection, being hyped up on fentanyl, and barely escaping the time period when they would have had to do a tracheostomy.
