Would love to hear Rip's counter argument. Data show Utah ranks 12th nationally
...in terms of high-level recruits (top 1000) produced relative to state size which is actually #1 of all the western states. Meaning, yes, California produces the most in sheer volume, but it also has 39 million people, so it should. However, relative to its massive population, it actually under produces by (-31%).
Utah, on the other hand, has about 1/11 their population. So based on state size, Utah actually over produces more as a percentage of its population (+9%).
Here are the top 5 states in the west in production relative to its population.
1. Utah
2. Hawaii
3. Nevada
4. Arizona
5. California
