Agreed
I think in a best case scenario Kalani is like Coach O at LSU - a historically rah rah type motivator who was never an X's and O's type coach, had failures at previous stints as head coach. When he got the job at LSU, he was surrounded with great coordinators that had well defined offensive and defensive systems. LSU had a great infrastructure around the football program.

I don't think that BYU has created everything around Kalani that he would need to have similar success to Coach O at LSU. Obviously, there are appropriate questions about whether that is the right way to spend money and resources and whether or not those resources could be better used with a different coach. I think the timing of the Basketball team's makeover and momentum leads a lot of people to think about what could be on the football side. However, I think that one nuance here that many people forget is that none of that stuff on the basketball side happens if Pope doesnt take a different position. If pope stays we dont have all of these new recruits or coaches and we are left hoping the team can continue taking small steps forward.
