Semaglutide might be coming off the shortage list impacting compounding
pharmacies.

This might be kind of interesting. Currently due to the drug shortage of GLP-1s the FDA is allowing compounding pharmacies to manufacture them, which is something typically not allowed with patented new meds. The compounding pharmacies are the source of all the online app and weight loss centers, as well where many traditional patients turn to since it's 15-20% of the out-of-pocket cost and since insurance is denying or fighting extensively back with arduous pre-authorizations on most prescriptions.

The drug companies obviously don't like that so they're making a PR blitz stating that production has increased and that the drug should come off the shortage list.

I imagine the second the FDA revokes the compounding pharmacies capabilities here you'll have a lot of people pretty upset who are now dependent on semaglutide/tirzepatide.

I also wonder how the online tele apps will deal with it. My guess is the FDA won't act though because a lot of controversy in medicine about healthcare disparity right now which would fuel a lot of debate since the rich would still be able to pay out of pocket.
