Recommendations for my next hike? The only criteria are that its within about 30 min of Provo and less brutal than the Y

Rock Canyon. It's less brutal and you can stop and turn around whenever or power all the way up to the Squaw Peak road.

It's uphill, but once you get into the canyon it's pretty and shaded.

Battle Creek Falls in PG. Again stop at the falls or keep hiking as far as you want.

Good Choice but pretty much anywhere in Provo is more than 30 min to that trailhead, though not by much.

Salt Creek Falls (East of Nephi off the Nebo Loop) is just about an hour from South Provo.
