I lived overseas all through the 70s and early 80s and never heard anyone even
mention his name outside of Americans at church. My perception was that he was basically unknown in the countries I lived in.
Maybe he was popular in certain specific countries (I never lived in Denmark or England), or in certain segments of society that I didn’t interact with. 🤷🏻
