Waymo isn't too far away from having driverless taxis that work perfectly within city limits. Imagine a 40 story apartment building built in a downtown that only has 30 parking spaces (and those are only for guests).

Many people aren't going to own cars in the future - so there will be less of a need for parking. Houses will be built without garages. Work from home, walk to work, bikes, Uber/Waymo etc all reduce the demand for car ownership.

We'll add housing without increasing traffic by too much.

And because a builder won't need to dig out a huge parking garage, the cost to construct a 40 story tower would go down significantly.
