Also:

1. What was one (or a few) piece of gear that you absolutely loved having?

2. For first timers doing the JMT, is it best to go with someone whose done the full trail before?

3. Did you bring poles to fish at all? Assuming not...?

I think I mentioned to you that I've frequented Agnew Meadows up to lake garnet and thousand island for fishing trips but have never done other parts of the Sierra Nevadas.
