This is a good list. If possible I wouldn’t travel during the middle of summer.
It can get really hot and humid. My favorite time is late fall when the leaves are changing colors.
Also, make sure to go all out and rent kimonos for the day. I know that it may feel super touristy but it helps you to enjoy the historical sites.
