The last time I was there it was a pretty tough climb up to the grave. It was a
Steep, muddy, slippery, overgrown trail. But that was many years ago. I’m sure it’s much improved now. This link shows the trail now and it was nothing like this in the 70s and 80s.



The view from up on Mt. Vaea was really awesome, looking out over Apia. I remember it seemed like I could almost see the whole island. I could actually see our house and the church school at Pesega.

I didn’t know that poem before hand, but it moved me the first time I saw it. I remember memorizing it before I headed down and it’s stuck with me ever since. I was in High School when I hiked up. I’ve never done it as an adult. If you have the chance, it’s worth seeing.
