We were anywhere from upper lower class to middle class, depending on my Dad’s
business was going.
We had powdered milk sometimes. Another trick my mom would do with milk: she’d buy a gallon of whole milk, then pour half of it in an old, cleaned-out milk jug. Then she’d fill up both jugs with water. We called that 2% milk.
