D1 basketball to no effect. An also ran program for a sport usually stays an also ran program even if they bring in a former famous player as a coach.

If you want to quickly change the fortune of BYU baseball, become a quick billionaire or hope that a local billionaire suddenly takes some huge interest in BYU baseball. NIL is the main way for any team to move a bunch upward in the pecking order of the sport.
