BYU seasons under .500 and the season afterwards
(using sub .500 to account for different season lengths)
2023: 5-7
2024: ?
2017: 4-9
2018: 7-6 (+3 games)
2002: 5-7
2003: 4-8 (-1 game)
2004: 5-6 (+1.5 games)
2005: 6-6 (+0.5 games)
1973: 5-6
1974: 7-4-1 (+2 games)
So that's a pretty small sample, but in the last 50 years, when we have finished below .500 we've improved by an average of 1.2 games in the next season
