Honestly, I think gymnasts are the group that is most likely to be able to...
transition to other sports. They have absolute crazy proprioception skills, body control, and explosive abilities. I would bet that gymnasts could easily excel at throwing a discus than discus players could excel at being a gymnast.

My roommate at BYU was a nationally ranked gymnast in high school. He was incredible at transitioning to other sports. Except basketball, he sucked at that. But everything else he seemed to excel at.

His older brother, also a gymnast in high school, walked onto the BYU Football team without ever putting pads on before. He made his way up the depth chart at RB until he quit after almost a year because he was getting married and lost interest. Literally it was a hobby sport for him that he just picked up and he was competing with other people who had dedicated their lives to the sport.
