We have bought Aventon, iZip, Rad, etc. Some thoughts and things to consider.
It's hard to get the best bike for daily commuting and for dirt. You kind of have to pick which is your "primary". The best commuting/in-town bikes have you sit upright, so your back doesn't hurt, and they have fenders for the water/mud, saddlebags to carry your stuff, etc. For women in skirts, they usually want a step-through bike. We have found with my wife and four daughters that the most comfortable bike was a RadCity. They love it, and put a big basket on the back for hauling stuff. We also have an Aventon Sinch that works pretty well and can fold up and put into the minivan.

But here's the thing ... these bikes are HEAVY. You can't throw them on a bike rack. You basically keep it in your garage and then ride it around town. They're perfect for attaching trailers and hauling kids and groceries. We have these for our daily commuting.

eMTBs are best for trails of course. But riding around town is less comfy because you have to bend over and it hurts your back, they're not often step-throughs, and to save weight they don't have things like kickstands, fenders, racks, lights, etc.

Now, you CAN use either bike for either. We've taken Rad bikes on dirt trails by muscleing them into a minivan or truck. And you can certainly ride eMTBs around town. But they're going to be awesome for their primary purpose and not nearly as enjoyable for their secondary purpose.
