My Mom is currently living off SS and lives pretty comfortably.
No mortgage, paid off nearly-new vehicle and she doesn’t really have a lot of super expensive tastes. Not a big traveler, etc. But she is comfortable enough that she doesn’t worry much about money and has a sizable nest egg for later on if/when she needs it.
