1. This falls on the coach for not demanding and getting more from his players. Many have made the point that the endorsement that GGG received from his players that solidified his 2nd term, is actually a huge indictment. Players are too comfortable.
2. This has long been a concern and may be just a “get off my lawn” comment. It doesn’t feel like this generation is capable of the type of grit that prior generations are. USMNT used to always play with a chip on their shoulder to prove we belonged. That grit got them several wins and though several groups at the WC. It feels like this group already has proven they belong, but not by what they have done with the USMNT, but rather what club they play for. The American spirit that was so prevalent with past squads has been missing for a while.
