hire an accountant. The amount of time and money it takes to file taxes is asinine, especially for people with more complicated taxes. This year I spent about 10 hours of my own time preparing my taxes before I even filed them, then another $2,000 paid to my accountant. Then, as the cherry on top, another $15,000 in taxes. This didn’t include the monthly taxes I had already been paying throughout the year.
So basically I am forced to take more than a full work day to prepare my taxes, then pay a professional a bunch to review, organize, and file them—all just so I can then pay a large amount to the government.
It’s asinine.
I was tempted to send the IRS and the State of Utah a bill for my time this past tax season.
