BYU typically hosts two Indoor and one Outdoor meets. UVU, Weber State, Utah State, Idaho State, and Utah all host meets as well that BYU sends athletes to. I think all of them accept Unattached runners as well.

The coach whose eye she’s trying to catch varies by event. If she is a 400m runner, Kyle Grossarth would be her coach. If she is an 800m runner, Diljeet Taylor would be her coach. Frankly, she is much more likely to catch BYU’s eye if she goes the 400m route. BYU has a ton of 800m runners, and the standards are much higher. There are very few 400m runners, and their times aren’t that great.

As far as coaching is concerned I would have her reach out to Kyle and see if he’ll provide her with some workouts. She may also consider hiring a virtual coach to provide workouts and keep her accountable. Ideally, this person would have some BYU affiliation (former coach or athlete).
