I got a decent inheritance from my dad's wife (she had no kids)
I promptly invested it in a Marriott that should do pretty well.
We'll stand to inherit a good bit from my MIL. My only concern is preserving all I can for my kids. I can't imagine squandering it on stupid stuff.
