But I did provide the link for people to arrive at disagreement. If I honestly heard an intermediate vowel,
I'd revise my post.
It's clearly a short "A" per my ears. But I have enough of a linguistic background to not be too surprised many disagree w me. The way many are disagreeing in this thread suggests at least many in disagreement are hearing an intermediate vowel rather than a clearly long or short "A".
