Had a similar issue w/ concrete on a house we built. Crew forgot to put earthquake straps into concrete as it was
setting up. It meant a big added expense to add them after the fact including a jump in cost by framer who had to fasten them to rim joists. Concrete guy kept getting antsy for final payment then took the original straps to use on another job when we'd paid for them. I told him I'd pay him once I know all the extra cost associated with the different straps, subtract cost of original straps and the labor costs from framer. He laughed and said "Guess this isn't your first rodeo with contractors is it?" I was 30 y/o and pregnant. Think it caught him off guard I stood my ground.

Some things you can be flexible about but other times, it's a no go.
