They specifically make these rules so you can't get around it. Otherwise you'd have "residents" eating up tags and
licenses only because they have a second home. It would really suck for actual residents. Plus those departments need the revenue from out of state licenses and tags.

I know in Montana, fish and game doesn't mess around with resident requirements. I had an honest mistake on one of my licenses when I first moved (I was given a resident license when I didn't qualify). I knew it was wrong, didn't use the license and went to amend it immediately. Even then, they blew their stack and it was kind of an ordeal.
