Wear and tear isn't covered on a home insurance policy. But it seems these
roofing companies are getting things covered in many cases. See articles of how Florida is in a world of hurt for home insurance due to this very thing. Just don't complain when home insurance rates are more than your property taxes in a couple of years.

I don't why insurance companies are paying these claims but they are starting to just deny all applications with shingle roofs over 20 years. They are also changing policy language to only cover roofs for ACV instead of replacement.
