It isn't just the predicted losses head-to-head at the beginning of the season as those will be pretty similar, but the grind of making it through the season as a string of several 30to60-something teams takes a bigger toll than a string of 60to90 teams.

The other factor most Utah fans are oblivious to is that there is a lot more travel time in the B12, which makes away games more difficult on average. An away game in the eastern time zone or even Texas gives a more pronounced advantage and doesn't really compare to an hour on a plane to AZ/CA/CO or the two hours to fly to Seattle/Portland. This cuts both ways in terms of having a bigger home field advantage, but stringing together 8-10 wins would be more difficult in the B12 even if the average competition were the same.

Apart from all of that, it's just really really annoying to B12 fans to have Utah fans talking about how they will waltz through the B12 with little resistance. The B12 is not the MWC or even the P12. Utah fans have been trashing the B12 ever since BYU was invited, but it's quite literally your life raft right now and Utah couldn't be more ungrateful. Your teams are going to be hated in the B12 because of your dumb fans acting like they are above the B12...not because of the quality of your programs.
