Sure felt like the team seeing this had seen Independence Day, though LOL at how abruptly the plane stopped when it jammed in his gullet.
I'm a sucker for "putting a team together" scenes, but "explaining the plan" scenes drive me nuts because, having seen more than one movie, I know that Plan A is never ever going to work as described. This one kind of split the baby by telling us Plan B in advance, but having it work — with a very obvious twist.
I was amused by the idea that the Zero mechanic was somehow going to be the best at fixing up the plane he'd never seen. We know that emotional catharsis was needed for our guy and the mechanic, but I'd expect the Doc guy to push a little harder to bring in the guys who built the plane, not a retired mechanic who had never heard of it.
