I watched him play in a game at Idaho Falls High School. He was so dominant! Also went down to Pocatello to see Elgin Baylor play for Seattle University! He had the moves! Even rooted for the Cougars when the FB team played at Utah State in 1958 and only lost 14-7. In those days, BYU already had a reputation as a BB power but FB not so much! Thanks to KSL’s 50,000 watts signal, I have followed BYU since way back in 1950.
My elder brother started at the Y in 1951 and was a lifelong Cougar fan until he passed in 2016. Strangely, we were there to see the play that propelled BYU in 1984 into the National discussion when Kyle Morrell stopped Raphael Cherry of Hawaii inches short of the goal line! I was a professor at BYU-Hawaii at the time!
