I get what you're saying (I think)
I'm not so much mourning what BYU is becoming, but college sports in general.
In the short term, I'm excited to see what happens with BYU. In the long term, however, with so few rules and power brokers that have only their own best interests in mind, it's easy to see ways that this* could all go sideways.
*By this, I don't mean BYU necessarily, I just mean the collegiate landscape.
