This is true. I think Bronco got fed up with the media, fans, and admin by the
end, and that was a distraction that affected his overall performance and satisfaction with coaching, and was a big part of the move to UVA. And, I agree with the concept that he was not the best of recruiters with his somewhat arrogant stance of "you recruit us," not the other way around. And, (justified or not), it just rubbed too many people the wrong way, causing our recruiting pipeline, and many areas of our team depth to suffer as a result, shifting some of the talent to Utah and other western teams like Oregon, et al.

But, his ability to develop and motivate players within the program was top tier, IMO, as was his determination and preparation. The turnaround the defense made with the SAME EXACT PLAYERS that year after he fired Jaime Hill was one of the most masterful coaching jobs I've ever seen, a turnaround made against top tier offenses the latter part of that year. But the number of times his teams (on the list above) outscored opponents was clearly evidence that he was (and is) a great coach. And although his recruiting deficiencies, game management (at times), and stubbornness (to some degree) probably led to BYU losses, to be always in the (+) those years reflects just how well prepared and motivated his teams were (as apposed to Kalani's). Now he didn't have NIL and the TP to contend with, but being in the (+) almost every year reflects his teams rarely getting blown out and embarrassed, and not having players that play "casually," loose motivation, or just give up in the middle of a game or a season. His teams were almost always "in the game."
