Question for tax pro's regarding setting my Utah state inc tx withholdings
As it stands right now, my employer is withholding about $45 too much state income tax each pay period (about $1,170 too much per year). I have filed my W-4 as "Married Filing Jointly."

I would like to reduce my state withholdings to a specified amount that I think it should be according to my estimations. However, according to my Payroll/HR department, there is no way to do that in Utah. (I can do that for federal withholdings by playing with the deductions and dependents.) But according to my employer, Utah only allows you to adjust 3 things: Filing Status, Exemption Status, and Extra (additional) withholdings.

I hate giving free loans to the government by withholding too much, but what can I do? Is there really no way to adjust my state withholdings down to a more reasonable amount?

TIA.
