Probably market dependent. I almost never get better pricing on any but the
ultra low-cost carriers (Allegiant, Spirit, Breeze) unless I have very firm schedule requirements. If I have any flexibility at all on dates, it usually easy to find a better price on SWA than any other major carrier. Especially when you price in extras like seating and baggage.
I fly SWA pretty often, and rarely have a less than full airplane. So their pricing must be working for some people.
