You could also argue it doesn' help blow outs because they are battling the

other team and the additional 8 points they have to score.

With the clock, if the losing team is down by 10 and they stop the other team from scoring, they only have to score 10 points. With Edam's Ending, they would have to score 18 points, which gives the winning team more opportunities to score.
