Except they decide opening round locations AFTER seeds 1-4 are placed in the
bracket and BEFORE 5 seeds are placed.
Meaning BYU would have been placed in the bracket as a 4 seed in the East or West. Then when it came to opening weekend location assignment, they would have made sure BYU went to a Thursday/Saturday location (most likely SLC).
That's completely different than the current situation where those sites were assigned BEFORE 5-seed BYU was placed in the bracket (and this bumped to a 6 seed).
Plus, they can easily bump a team 1 spot on the seed line. They are discouraged from bumping them 2 seeds.
