I've been meaning to freeze my credit with the 3 credit bureaus for a long time
but I kept putting it off... until yesterday. I put it off because I thought it would take a lot of work but it was remarkably straightforward.
Start out by going to this link: https://www.usa.gov/credit-freeze
That page has direct link to initiate freezing your credit with each bureau.
Each bureau just has you create a username and password and once you're in the newly created account there will be a button asking you if you want to freeze your credit. It was that simple. The whole process took 15 minutes from start to finish.
Log off Cougarboard for 15 minutes right now and get it done. Freezing your credit can save you from huge headaches if your identity gets stolen.

FYI, freezing the credit of your minor children is a bit more involved than (CrashMcLarson, Aug 26, 2024 at 4:34pm)
