With the expanded playoff and auto bids, Utah wins the big-12 but is considered part of the pac-12 bowl pool still. The big-12 runner up then gets the playoff spot. The pac-12 crowns a champion out of OR st or wazzu and gets the playoff spot. Utah then gets left out of the playoffs and has to fill a pac-12 bowl spot.

Of course I’d much rather Utah lose every game they play but if they do well in the big-12 it would be hilarious to see their bowl season derailed because of their beloved pac-12 conference.
