Why PHEVs and Natural Gas vehicles are not more widely accepted surprises me.
I decided this needed a new thread, because it was too far tangential.

But CNG tanks and combustion engines had multiple benefits compared to the current gas engines. While it took a larger volume tank, not only would this produce less CO2, cheaper fuel, and really had potential. These type of cars were just pulled off the market, which makes me sad as this was a solid option!

Also, PHEV vehicles really do make a lot of sense. Use 20-50 miles of electric power (granted less efficient with a much smaller battery pack trying to output the same power as full EV, but still efficient enough to see massive cost savings.) Then you can use the regular engine for longer distances. Nothing special, just a regular outlet to plug into every night, 150-300 miles electric range by charging off-peak every night. Plus you could use the battery as a backup power supply to charge tools and equipment, or when camping.
I understand why Tesla is not exploring this option (They don't have a combustion engine backbone like most car manufacturing) but why there are no PHEV trucks surprises me.

There may be really good reasons for both. . . But from my limited knowledge on this subject it is sad that both of these options have not done better.
