In that case Clark just got caught in a numbers game.
Consider that the two coaches who were most under fire were Funk and ARod.
Funk is clearly gone, but if you want to keep ARod, but reduce his responsibility you have to either demote him (very tough) or take away his QB coach role...which means hiring a new coach, which means losing a coach.
Let's rule out the defensive staff since the QB coach would be an offensive guy. Also we just hired Hill to build that staff so they're all new. That means if we let go of someone to open up a QB coach spot it's not Hill, Poppinga, Ena, Gilford or Pouha.
So on the offensive side, you've got ARod (who survived), Fesi, Clark, Unga and Funk (who is out)
If you want to add a QB coach, that means firing Fesi, Unga, or Clark. It's obviously not Fesi so you either fire Unga and get an OL/RB coach....or you fire Clark and make Fesi the WR/TE coach.
If (and there's obviously no guarantee this is the case) we do get a QB coach it's not about anything Clark was doing and more a measure of dissatisfaction with ARod and reducing his responsibility. Clark is just caught in the middle as the position coach most easily folded into someone else's responsibilities.
