The annual cost to maintain the quality of the playing surface could be significant

Even New England and Notre Dame went to field turf because of the cost issue. The husband of a associate that worked for me at my prior firm studied this stuff at PSU and we stay in touch. He now works with FedEx Field. The science behind it is incredible and interesting.

How do you replace a field multiple times in a season? Just rolling out new sod?

The softest grass imaginable is Zeon zoysia. It’s a subtropical grass that has a very spongy feel.

LOL... I worked on the grounds grew 35 years ago. Didn't have anything to do with the field. I just drove heavy equip
