Well, the highest part of the backrest is at about perpendicular to the bench.

The seat portion doesn't go to the back of the bench, but it angles backward so the top of the seat is perpendicular to the back of the bench, if you follow what I am trying to say.

More of a height issue. If you're over 5'10" the person in front of you will be between your knees.
