First, CU defecting from the P12 to the B12 will potentially (likely) draw out other P12 teams. I suspect Arizona (a pacific time zone team during part of the year) will be close behind them and then the B12 can have conversations with some of the coastal schools that may be more willing to talk when they see their conference dissolving. It also throws a TV contract negotiation that is already a cluster into further disarray.
If it's a foregone conclusion that Oregon and Washington are already B1G bound, but nobody else, then CU+1 means the P12 is actually dying (6 schools does not an athletic conference make) and so that move puts the B12 squarely in a buyer's market for P12 teams. Stanford and Cal may fall in the B12's lap.
These are all good developments for BYU as it will have beatable teams in BB and FB in close proximity, which puts BYU in a better position to succeed in the B12 over the long haul, particularly if divisions are formed. I see no negatives to the CU rumors bearing out.
