As a Controller, you should be closer to 200k, especially if you are located in New York. My guess is gov’t work has handicapped you financially and lowered your standards. You may want to aim higher.

For what it’s worth, that 140k salary in New York (depending on where you live) is worth just under 60k in Las Vegas. The other benefits are nice though and upward mobility should factor into the equation.
