Former BYU commit Bernardo Da Silva...
...is having a pretty good junior year at Hawaii. He's scoring 12.3 pts a game, getting 7.8 boards. The other guy that was released from his scholarship by Pope before signing was Shengzhe Li. I did a little digging and couldn't find anything current on him, it looks like he's not playing. Saw a post online that he committed to Oregon St back in 2019 but looks like he never made the roster. Saw a LinkedIn post from his feed indicating he was the Team Manager.

Gavin is getting limited playing time with Utah. Wyatt Lowell is getting limited minutes with Portland. Hunter Erickson is off to a really good start with SLCC, scoring 18.2 pts a game, shooting 61.3% from 3 and 68.5% overall in about 23 mins a game. Lee seems to have a good fit with IDSU, nice to see him getting a chance to finish out his career close to home. Seneca Knight is 3rd in scoring at ILL St at 8.4 a game and so far is shooting surprisingly well (43.2% overall, 38.5% from 3). Looks like the Redbirds are a better fit for him and his 1 on 5 skill set (they're 2-5 so far).

While the jury is still out on Hunter (we'll see if his JUCO scoring translates to D-1 when he transfers to Utah next year) I think for the most part Pope has been right about the guys he's either passed on, released/encouraged to leave or have left on their own accord to find playing time. Da Silva is having a nice junior year and looks like a solid big even though the level of competition he's played at Hawaii has been pretty weak. In hindsight it would've been nice to have had him on the bench but I think we've managed ok without him.
