The idea to bring back the navy and royal helmets was thought up by BYU Interim Director of Equipment Operations, Billy Nixon.
Also an example: the blackout with royal was very popular among the players but the equipment staff/athletic department chose to discontinue it.
So, I agree that you are right that the players/captains are picking the uniforms for each game (so if this year is also the same as last year, then the players are the ones that picked the all white) but what I was trying to say is that the players are not the ones creating the individual jerseys, helmets, facemasks, etc. that are available to choose from.
