I worked late at night so it was normal for me to be on the road while most people were sleeping.

Being out on the road at 1:30am isn't necessarily an evil thing.

Within 2 weeks of returning from my mission, I drove all night with some friends and family from Utah to California to catch the BYU-FSU game. Yes, we were out on the road ALL NIGHT LONG.
Of course, you're right. Nothing good came of it. BYU lost the game.
